Road accident in Luanda leaves four dead and 12 seriously injured

Four people died and 17 were injured, 12 of them in a serious condition, following a road accident in Luanda province, allegedly due to the drunkenness of one of the drivers.

According to the report by the Luanda Police, the appalling accident that took place on Monday night took place on Avenida Fidel de Castro Ruz, when an informal taxi crashed into the back of a broken-down truck, which was on that road. .

The taxi driver's driving under the influence of alcohol, who also died, and speeding were pointed out by the police as the cause of the accident.

Between Friday and Monday, the police recorded a total of 32 road accidents, which resulted in 11 deaths and 22 injuries.

Of the 32 road accidents, 15 were run over, with 11 people losing their lives.

Road accidents are the second leading cause of death in Angola, after malaria.

Until March this year, the country recorded 452 deaths and 2445 injuries, out of a total of 2183 road accidents, according to information from the National Police.
