Election commissioners "with marked fingers" tested indelible ink for the August elections

National electoral commissioners have tested the indelible ink, which should be used in the August general elections, to gauge its "effectiveness and durability" and are, this Friday, at a methodological meeting in Luanda with the indicator fingers marked.

The ink on the fingers of the national electoral commissioners, members of the plenary of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), aroused the curiosity of Lusa team that accompanied this Friday the beginning of the first National Methodological Meeting on the General Elections 2022.

According to CNE spokesman, Lucas Quilundo, in the framework of the preparation of the conditions for the elections of August, the plenary of the CNE appreciated the proposal of materials for the elections "and, among this material to be used in the elections, is the indelible ink".

"Therefore, on the basis of this, gathered in plenary, the commissioners members of the plenary, on an experimental basis wet their fingers in the indelible ink to assess their effectiveness and durability", he explained when questioned by Lusa.

In relation to the overall logistics of the general elections, Lucas Quilundo made it known that the methodological meeting, which ends in Saturday, fits into the preparation of the general conditions for the election.

"Aspects related to a revisit of the CNE's task plan, specific to the general elections, issues related to information and statistics technologies, as well as an aspect related to electoral training and civic education, will be analyzed in this framework," he explained.

The component of finance administration and personnel management "so that, from the evaluation of all these aspects", also centralizes the meeting to assess "what capacity the CNE has to fully fulfill its fundamental task of organizing the 2022 elections".

Angola holds in the second half of August this year, as established by the country's revised Constitution, the fifth general elections in the country's history since 1992.
