CNE wants local bodies with "perfect dominance" of competences in general elections

The President of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) warned on Friday that the local bodies of the entity "must have the perfect mastery of their powers" during the implementation of the specific guidelines, aimed at the general elections in August.

Local CNE bodies, members of the national commission, chairman of provincial electoral commissions, national directors, members of Luanda's provincial electoral commission and others participate in the first National Methodological Meeting on the 2022 General Elections that began this Friday in Luanda.

Manuel Pereira da Silva, who was speaking at the opening of the meeting, pointed to the preparation of the CNE's local bodies, as one of the purposes of the event, for them to "have the perfect mastery of their powers during the implementation of the specific guidelines" of the plenary of the body.

"As part of the implementation of the tasks, towards the 2022 general elections," he said.

Transmitting guidance on how to perform the tasks contained in the Activity Plan and the Institutional Schedule of CNE 2022 is also one of the objectives of the meeting.

"This national meeting aims essentially to present the lines of force on the tasks to be performed by the CNE and its local bodies, in preparation for the best exercise of our powers in the holding of the 2022 general elections," he said.

Administration, finance and personal management, training and civic electoral education and institutional communication and electoral marketing are the themes that dominate the work of this meeting that ends Saturday.

The next general election in Angola, the fifth election in the country's political history, is scheduled for the second half of August.

Organizing, executing, coordinating and conducting electoral processes, programming and executing the electoral logistics operation are the competences of the CNE, which already has in possession the provisional computer file of larger citizens with about 14 million voters.

"Vote for peace, democracy and development" is the motto of the 2022 general elections.
