Italy showed interest in investing in the production of olives and ornamental stones in Namibe, according to Hélder Cardoso, vice-president of the Angola/Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Speaking during a meeting with businessmen from Namibe, the official recognized the potential of that province and highlighted the sectors of ornamental stones, agriculture and tourism, which caught the attention of Italians.

Cited by Angop, the vice-president of the Angola/Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry indicated that that European country has several lines of financing, which may help national businessmen to establish partnerships.

He also took the opportunity to clarify that about three years ago, when the Italian president visited Angola, financing agreements were approved for the private sector: "In 2019, in Angola there was a visit by the Italian president and, on the occasion, financing agreements were approved in the value of 300 million euros, for the private sector and destined for tourism, agriculture, manufacturing industry and renewable energies, whose line is being analyzed by the Ministry of Finance to be materialized", he said, quoted by Angop.

The official also informed that for this year, the chamber will develop a forum in Italy, thus creating an opportunity for national businessmen with projects in hand, but lacking partnerships, looking for funding, writes Angop.

Bureaucracy in granting credit, lack of project consultancy, certification of agricultural, marine and mineral products 'made in Angola', among others, were some of the obstacles mentioned by businesspeople in that province.
