Experts and technicians leave Luanda for provinces to strengthen response to covid-19

A caravan in response to covid-19, with public health specialists and pulmonary ventilator technicians, departed this Thursday from Luanda for the provinces of the interior of Angola to reinforce the technical and material capacity to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

Vincenzo Livieri:

The initiative, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health with technical and financial support from the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to ensure the strengthening of the capacities of rapid response teams to covid-19 at national level through the training of technicians and local doctors in key areas: case management, risk communication, epidemiological surveillance, logistics and biosafety.

According to the WHO representative in Angola, Javier Aramburu, this is a project that will contribute to the strengthening of local capacities for handling positive cases by covid-19, intensive care management, prevention and infection control.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, the official said that the technicians will also guarantee the assessment of the condition of the fans, an essential tool for the treatment of cases in critical situations.

"WHO considers it crucial that nationwide rapid response teams with technical capacity are created to prevent, test, treat, and track contact contacts of possible suspected cases of covid-19 infection. Therefore, this initiative is a key approach that will allow Angola to be prepared for the likely more complex stages of response to covid-19 "

It is expected that, with the accelerated response caravan, the safety capacity of the establishments and health personnel will also be reinforced, in order to ensure the minimum of coronavirus infections and thus ensure proper attention, and adequate service to the population. .

To reinforce the fight against the disease in Angola, WHO calls for the collaboration of the entire population in following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health regarding social distance, as well as the widespread use of protective masks, including homemade ones, in order to prevent the risks of disease transmission and contamination.
