João Lourenço guarantees: “We will have the airport at the end of the year”

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, assured that the new Luanda International Airport ‘Dr. António Agostinho Neto’ will start operating “at the end of the year”.

:

"We will have the airport at the end of the year. We are going to inaugurate it", announced the head of state, who, according to Angop, did not set a specific date for that.

João Lourenço carried out, this Monday, a verification visit to the airport, having, on the occasion, been satisfied with the physical development of the contract.

The President of the Republic also addressed the issue of furniture, stating that until the inauguration, the infrastructure will be able to serve passengers, writes Angop.

He also highlighted that they are negotiating with Boeing: "We are negotiating with Boeing. It is a negotiation that has taken some time and we want to believe that this time, yes, we will end up negotiating a new package of Boeing aircraft for long haul", he said, cited by Angop.

Accompanied by members of the Government, the head of State visited, according to Angop, the air and airport navigation management building, the regional and integrated control centre, the passenger terminal, the boarding area, among others.

Furthermore, during the visit, the President of the Republic also met with officials from the Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) – in charge of the undertaking.

It should be remembered that the last time that João Lourenço visited the project for the future airport was in December last year.
