Alexandre Carlos Neto, director of the factory, informed that the 200 tonnes are already in Porto do Lobito and that later this month they will be taken to Dondo, in Kwanza Norte province, where the factory is located.
Speaking to Angop, the official explained that while mechanisms are being analyzed to produce the raw material locally with a view to replacing imports, the group estimates to buy around 500 tonnes of cotton per month from South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The factory director said that initially the unit will produce yarn for export.
It is recalled that in 2020, the Boabab Cotton Group won the tender to manage Satec, for 15 years, with the possibility of purchase. In March of last year, the factory formally started its activity.
Alexandre Carlos Neto explained that since then the maintenance of the equipment has been in progress, stressing that currently there are conditions to start operating, except for the dyeing section that needs spare parts.
The official also mentioned that the 900 employees hired in January are already receiving training. In addition to these employees, the company already has 725 workers out of a total of 1145 trained in 2016, who will be gradually integrated.
The manufacturing unit is composed of two production lines, occupying an area of 88 thousand square meters.
