Vaccine resistance will drop the requirement for negative tests and requires the presentation of a certificate

The multisectoral commission to combat covid-19 in Angola will propose that it is no longer mandatory to present a negative test and that the certificate of vaccines will be required, to reverse the situation of resistance to vaccination.

:

The coordinator of the Multisectoral Commission for Combating and Preventing Covid-19, Francisco Furtado, said this Tuesday that he will propose that the mandatory submission of tests to covid-19 in public sectors or in any other establishment be ended, being mandatory that citizens to present the two-dose or single-dose vaccination certificate from Johnson & Johnson.

"In this way, we will give priority to the use of tests in hospital units, access to air and land borders and implement some rigorous measures to force the population to vaccinate more", said Furtado, in statements broadcast by public radio. , at the end of the committee's weekly debriefing meeting.

Francisco Furtado said that there is a reduction in cases, which went from an incidence rate of 1.7 percent in January to 0.1 percent in the current month, but the authorities register "a negative behavior of the population" that is not wants to vaccinate and failed to make proper use of masks and biosecurity measures.

"The month of February is being a very negative month in terms of vaccination, there is a reduction in the taking of vaccines by about 50 percent compared to the month of January", he said.

The also head of the Military House of the President of the Republic stressed that January was the best month in terms of vaccination, since the beginning of the process in the country, with the registration of more than 3.2 million doses administered.

"But February is being negative, not only in taking the first dose, but particularly in the second dose", said the official, regretting the loss in January of 331 thousand doses of vaccines, "because the populations that had to take the second dose did not take them".

"And we are also liable to lose thousands of doses of vaccine now, because the citizen is not behaving properly", he added.

Francisco Furtado said that, although they are thinking of proposing the relief of some measures, it is necessary to worsen the vaccination chapter.
"We have at the moment, with the measure of vaccination of children and adolescents, from 12 to 17 years old, our target population eligible for vaccination has gone from about 15.7 million to more than 20 million, and we have a low rate", stressed.

According to the coordinator of the multisectoral commission, the percentage of vaccination has dropped, "so it is really necessary to continue to take measures so that vaccination is effective and that citizens obey".

At this point, more than four million people have not yet taken the first dose and more than five million have missed the second dose, according to Francisco Furtado.
