Police arrested six people involved in the theft of train tracks in Benguela

The police arrested six individuals accused of stealing 24 train tracks from the Benguela Railroad, in the municipality of Ganda, public radio reported Wednesday.

According to the spokesman of the provincial command of the National Police in Benguela, Ernesto Tchiwale, who was presenting a balance of the actions during the last long weekend, the accused will be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office for the initiation of criminal proceedings.

Ernesto Tchiwale referred that the implicated were surprised by the forces of order, when they were questioned in a micro operation, which stopped the truck where they were transporting the 24 rails of the railway, in the municipality of Ganda.

The theft of means of the railways in the country is a phenomenon that has been worrying the authorities in recent times, due to the high losses caused to the State.

Last week, in Luanda, the police announced the arrest of 14 suspects of vandalizing goods in the public way, among which are rails, railway sleepers, and during the police operation a truck carrying 280 railway sleepers, among other means, was seized.
