Angolan found with more than 80 thousand dollars runs out of money and is sentenced to fine

The Angolan justice ordered the payment of a fine to a national citizen found with more than 80 thousand dollars on arrival at Luanda International Airport, reversing this amount in favor of the State, the authorities informed.

According to the director of Institutional Communication and Press of the General Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Luanda, Manuel Halaiwa, the seizure of the amount ($ 80,480) occurred at the time of passenger disembarkation.

"After assessing the passenger's risk profile, he was subjected to screening and a typical search of the luggage of this citizen, where 30 mobile phones were found, of which 20 were separated for taxation, different medicines and a total of 80,480 dollars", said Manuel Halaiwa in radio statements.

The official informed that the detainee was present, Monday, in the summary judgment session, in the 4th session of the common crimes room of the Provincial Court of Luanda, where he was sentenced to a fine, at a daily rate of 75 UCF's ( Tax Correction Units / 88.00 kwanzas) and the payment of a justice fee of 60 thousand kwanzas.

Also as a condemnatory measure, the court ordered the reversal of the amount seized in favor of the State, deposited by the General Tax Administration, in the current account of the National Bank of Angola.
