According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, to which VerAngola had access, Manuel Homem met, last Tuesday, with the company Any Security Printing Company.
The working meeting, which was also attended by the Hungarian ambassador to Angola, András Fazekas, was dominated by the project to implement the electronic passport in Angola.
"Topics related to the Angolan electronic passport implementation project form the central objective of the hearing granted last Tuesday, January 28, by the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Gomes da Conceição Homem, to the Hungarian company Any Security Printing Company, which was attended by the Hungarian Ambassador to Angola, András Fazekas", reads the note from the ministry.
Thus, the focus of the hearing was on matters related to the modernization and security of Angola's travel documents.
It is worth remembering that the implementation of the electronic passport is not a new issue. In 2019, the Government expressed its intention to introduce an electronic passport by the end of that year. The following year, it was reported that this electronic document would cost the State more than 100 million euros and that its development, production and supply would be the responsibility of a Hungarian company.
Several years later, the implementation of the electronic passport is once again on the agenda, with Tuesday's meeting representing an important step in the Executive's efforts to modernize administrative systems and improve the services made available to people.
It is worth noting that the electronic passport is identified by an internationally established symbol printed on the cover. The document includes, among other components, an electronic device that stores the identifiers of its holder, such as name, date of birth, gender, among others.
