Electric passport will cost 130 million euros and will be developed by Hungarian company

The electronic passport will cost the State 130 million euros. The development, production and supply of the passport and its respective system will be the responsibility of the Hungarian company ANY Biztonsági Nyomda Nyrt.

According to Novo Jornal, the expense as well as the formalization of the opening of the simplified hiring procedure were approved by the President in a presidential dispatch.

According to the same newspaper, dispatch 176/20 also gave the green light to a financing agreement between the state and Exim Bank of Hungary. The agreement provides for 110.5 million euros to cover 85 percent of the contract value.

The contract is to be signed by the minister of the interior, while the financing agreement will be the responsibility of the minister of finance.

The electronic passport is identified by a symbol, established internationally and stamped on the cover. The document includes, among other components, an electronic device that stores the identification of its holder, such as name, date of birth, gender, among others.
