According to Ekumbi David, representative of the Adérito Areias Group (responsible for managing the unit), this line is thinking about fruit producers, such as pineapple, mango, among others, who, due to not being able to sell their production, end up being harmed.
In addition to producing juices and processing tomatoes, the factory – currently being renovated and with no opening date yet – will also have a third differential: producing cans for preserving other products.
According to the person in charge, quoted by Angop, the can manufacturing line will be capable of producing 60 cans per minute.
In this sense, he informed that there is a collaboration protocol with the Carrinho Group, regarding the possibility of the company using these cans to fill condensed milk, since they still depend on the import of this raw material.
Regarding the tomato processing line, Ekumbi David said it will be able to process three to five tons per hour, a situation he considers an incentive for producers.
"This situation will encourage farmers to produce more, because they will have somewhere to deposit their product," he said, quoted by Angop.
Currently in the final stages of the rehabilitation process, the factory unit was visited this week by the governor of Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior. With no opening date yet, the factory is being restored after being vandalized approximately two years ago.
At the end of 2023, a possible date was announced for the factory to start operating. At the time, March 2024 was indicated as the possible deadline for the start, but this did not materialize.
