The latest epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reports that 92 new cases of cholera were reported in Luanda (48), Bengo (38), Icolo and Bengo (four), Cuanza Norte (one) and Zaire (one).
Three deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, two in Bengo province and one in Luanda province, with 185 people hospitalized.
Since the outbreak began on 7 January, 1,372 cases have been reported, 893 in Luanda province, 239 in Bengo province, 229 in Icolo and Bengo province, four in Huambo province, three in Malanje province, two in Huíla province, one in Cuanza Norte province and one in Zaire province, with people aged between 2 and 100 years.
There were 54 deaths, with the most affected age group being the 2 to 5 year olds with 228 cases and 10 deaths, followed by the 10 to 14 year olds with 179 cases and three deaths.
The Provincial Government of Luanda and the Ministry of Health met this Thursday to outline strategies to contain the spread of the outbreak and reinforce coordinated actions to control the spread of the disease given the seriousness of the situation.
The authorities once again appealed to the population to follow the guidelines of the health teams and maintain strict hygiene habits.
Cholera, which causes symptoms such as vomiting and watery diarrhea, is a disease associated with poor sanitation and water supply conditions.
