According to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health, of the 64 reported cases, 29 occurred in the province of Bengo, which surpassed Luanda (26) and the remaining nine in the province of Icolo and Bengo.
Deaths also occurred in each of these provinces, with 200 people hospitalized with cholera.
Angola has 1280 cases, 845 in the province of Luanda, 225 in the province of Icolo and Bengo, 201 in the province of Bengo, 4 in the province of Huambo, 3 in the province of Malanje and 2 in the province of Huíla, with ages between 2 and 100 years.
The 51 deaths are distributed across Luanda (34), Bengo (10) and Icolo e Bengo (7), with the most affected age group being 2 to 5 years old with 214 cases and 10 deaths, followed by the age group of 10 to 14 years of age with 170 cases and three deaths.
Cholera is a disease associated with poor sanitation and water supply conditions.
The ministry recommends that the population with symptoms of vomiting and liquid diarrhea seek a health unit, drink plenty of boiled water or water treated with five drops of bleach and prepare homemade serum (one liter of boiled water or water treated with two tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of salt).
