Cholera cases rise to 422, deaths to 24

Angola reported, in the last 24 hours, 39 more cases of cholera, totaling 422, of which 80 were declared positive, with two more deaths confirmed, for a total of 24, according to the Ministry of Health's information bulletin released at 6 pm.

The cholera outbreak, declared on January 7, affects three provinces – Luanda, Bengo and Icolo e Bengo – with its epicenter in the municipality of Cacuaco, where 277 cases were declared (54 confirmed).

There are still 17 people hospitalized and 14 samples are being processed at the national reference laboratory of the National Institute for Health Research (INIS).

Of the reported cases, aged between 2 and 73, 49 percent are male and the remainder are female.
