The cholera outbreak, declared on January 7, affects three provinces – Luanda, Bengo and Icolo e Bengo – with its epicenter in the municipality of Cacuaco, where 277 cases were declared (54 confirmed).
There are still 17 people hospitalized and 14 samples are being processed at the national reference laboratory of the National Institute for Health Research (INIS).
Of the reported cases, aged between 2 and 73, 49 percent are male and the remainder are female.
