In a statement sent to VerAngola, the national concessionaire informs that, "following the statement made public on the 22nd, it confirms that hydrocarbon (oil) stains were found in some parts of the coast of the province of Cabinda".

"In light of the incident, the ANPG, under the coordination of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, together with a multi-sector technical team from the provincial government of Cabinda and with the help of oil operators, are cleaning up the entire area contaminated by the spill", the note adds.

According to the ANPG, the work will continue until the origin of the spill is determined and the "necessary mitigation measures" are taken.

In the statement, the ANPG reaffirms "its commitment to the well-being of the population", remaining focused on ensuring "effective and transparent communication with all interested parties".

It should be recalled that, this Thursday, environmentalists and local organizations expressed concern about the oil spill in the Malembo (Cabinda) area, having called for rapid measures to mitigate the damage.
