Sílvia Lutucuta announces that INEMA will have 100 more ambulances by March

The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, announced that the National Institute of Medical Emergencies of Angola (INEMA) will be reinforced with another 100 ambulances by March this year, the reinforcement of which aims to ensure services at a national level.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, the holder of the Health portfolio made the announcement this Monday, at the Central Purchase and Supply of Medicines and Medical Means (CECOMA), speaking at the end of the event delivery of eight ambulances, which will allow INEMA to reinforce its activities.

According to Sílvia Lutucuta, "the acquisition of these ambulances" contributes to meeting the institute's needs.

"The acquisition of these ambulances equipped with advanced support meets INEMA's needs at a national level", she stated, quoted in the note.

On the occasion, the minister made it known that "there is a plan to acquire more ambulances and that support vehicles have been distributed in all provinces for the work of municipal offices and supervision, mainly of public health programs", reads the note.

In addition to INEMA, this Monday the Central Vaccine Depot was reinforced with a refrigerated vehicle.

According to another statement from the guardianship, to which VerAngola had access, the refrigerated vehicle was donated by Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

"The ark has a capacity of 396 liters, can store 100,000 doses of vaccines and can be disconnected from the electricity supply for up to 16 hours. The vehicle will be used to transport and distribute the vaccines", the statement reads.

According to the ministry, the Health sector will train technicians to "manage the vehicle and the fixed refrigeration cabinet for vaccines, as well as rigorously filling out the monitoring forms for subsequent evaluation".

CECOMA is reinforcing stock of medicines to treat malaria in all provinces

Since last Friday (January 19), the provincial health departments have been reinforced with medicines "for the treatment of simple and complicated malaria", by CECOMA.

According to Carlos Alberto Pinto de Sousa, Secretary of State for Public Health, the same medicines "will be reinforced for a period of three months".

Quoted in another note from the ministry, the Secretary of State also stated that not only medicines for malaria are being distributed: "In addition to antimalarials, tuberculostatic kits and some reproductive health products are also being distributed to health centers and posts", he indicated, adding that "the medicines are free".

According to the authority, the provinces of Luanda, Uíge, Malanje, Huambo and Namibe have already received the medicines.
