EU funds professional internship program with 300 thousand euros

The European Union (EU) has made available 300,000 euros to finance the program of professional internships in six provinces, under the project Revitalization of Technical Education and Vocational Training (Retfop), was announced this Wednesday.

:

According to the general coordinator of Retfop in Angola, Alexandre Rosa, the Professional Internship Program, which aims to "contribute to the reduction of unemployment, especially among young people", will be launched in coordination with the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (Inefop).

The goal of this project "is to create 600 professional internships, for young people between 18 and 25 years old", between 2021 and 2022 in the provinces of Benguela, Huíla, Huambo, Moxico, Luanda and Bié.

The person in charge was speaking this Wednesday, in Luanda, at the launching ceremony of the Professional Internship Program held by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security, as part of the Action Plan for the Promotion of Employability (PAPE).

Alexandre Rosa explained that the Retfop project financing model will be through a subsidy contract from the body that represents Inefop, which must ensure the payment of internship scholarships to companies.

The general coordinator of Retfop in Angola called for the participation of companies in this project, stating that they should apply until the end of the first quarter of 2021, the same period for applications from trainees.

The adhesion of companies, "which need incentives to absorb trainees", good organization of internships, "as a complement to training", and the existence of committed tutors were presented as "critical success factors" for the internships.

Young people, holders of technical-vocational courses or recognized professional training or general secondary education courses complemented with a professional course or bachelor's degree and/or a degree in any area of training, must submit their applications to the 150 Inefop centers.

In a first stage, the authorities expect to reach at least 2500 trainees throughout the country, foreseeing an increase in this number, as the Secretary of State for Labour and Social Security, Pedro Filipe, made known.

At this ceremony, which took place in the amphitheater of the ministerial body in Luanda, Inefop also signed partnership agreements with eight institutions, two of which are universities and six companies, which are expected to absorb young people for professional internships.

The Retfop project, a cooperation program between the EU and the Government, is operated and managed by Instituto Camões and Expertise France.
