BD, in a statement sent this Wednesday to Lusa, "deeply regrets" the "immediate position" of the Portuguese Government "legitimizing" the CC's decision, which proclaimed Frelimo and its presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo, as winners of the elections October 9th.
For this political party, the position of the Portuguese Government translates into an "attempt to boost and lead the European position that risks having double criteria [on the elections in Mozambique], taking into account the Venezuelan case and the governments of the CPLP space, allowing the party in power to use military means and so-called legal instruments to contain the popular wave".
The Portuguese prime minister hoped on Monday that the transition of power in Mozambique would take place in a "peaceful and inclusive manner, in a spirit of democratic dialogue", after the official results of the Mozambican presidential elections were announced.
"With the electoral process concluded by the Constitutional Council and Daniel Chapo appointed as President-elect of Mozambique, we emphasize the purpose that the transition that is now beginning can occur in a peaceful and inclusive manner, in a spirit of democratic dialogue, capable of responding to social challenges, economic and political aspects of the country", wrote Luís Montenegro, in a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, had highlighted the "importance of democratic dialogue" between all political forces in Mozambique and welcomed "the already expressed intention of national understanding".
"Having just announced the official results of the presidential and legislative elections by the Constitutional Council of Mozambique, the President of the Republic became aware of the candidates and political forces formally declared winners by that Council", says a note published on Belém's official website.
In this note, BD warns, on the other hand, the Angolan Government to "refrain from following the same path [as the Portuguese authorities]", as this "is the same path to, in a calculating way, weaken the Mozambican people through a self-destructive process as occurred in Angola after the 1992 elections", he pointed out.
The political organization, led by Filomeno Vieira Lopes, also "deplores and condemns" the CC's decision "endorsing electoral fraud", which it says was carried out by the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (Frelimo), in a "conjuncture of rupture between the established power and the Mozambican people.
He says he also appreciates the resistance of the Mozambican people and the leadership of Eduardo Mondlane in defending their sovereignty, "against the fraudulent and degenerate Mozambican regime established by Frelimo".
The BD also appeals to the Mozambican people for peaceful, but determined and conclusive resistance with a view to restoring electoral truth, and pressure from all democratic and honest forces in the world to contribute to a solution to the serious situation prevailing in Mozambique.
He also asked the Angolan people to draw the "due lessons and conclusions", as, he stressed, in 2027 (the year of general elections in the country) "we will once again be confronted with the fraudulent maneuvers of Frelimo's Siamese brother, the MPLA, in its uncontrolled desire to maintain power at all costs", it says in the document.
According to the proclamation made, Venâncio Mondlane recorded 24.19 percent of the votes, Ossufo Momade 6.62 percent and Lutero Simango 4.02 percent.
At least 56 people have died in Mozambique since Monday, following the challenge to the results of the Mozambican general elections, and 152 were shot, according to a report made this Wednesday by the electoral platform Decide.
