MPLA rejects problems with the former president's children and is confident of victory in 2027

The MPLA assured that it has no problems with anyone's children, when asked about reconciliation with José Eduardo dos Santos' daughters, and expressed confidence in electoral victory in 2027.

The MPLA may "eventually have problems regarding the behavior of some of its militants or former militants. All of us in the MPLA are equal militants before the statutes and we all have equal rules to comply with", said the Secretary for Information of the Political Bureau party member, Rui Falcão, asked about the daughters of the former president, José Eduardo dos Santos.

"If we are children of this or that one here there is no shield, here each one is worth it for themselves and only behavior determines your greater or lesser engagement with the other militants, we don't have this type of problem and we never analyze it", stressed the responsible for the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola.

Isabel dos Santos, involved in several legal proceedings, and Welwítschia "Tchizé" dos Santos, daughters of the party's former leader and former president, José Eduardo dos Santos, say they are being persecuted by the country's current leadership and have expressed public dissatisfaction with the actions of the Government and the party, especially in the fight against corruption.

Speaking to journalists, as part of the celebrations of the 67th anniversary of the founding of the MPLA, marked on December 10th, Rui Falcão said that the MPLA is a united party, which coexists with different opinions, unaware of the internal existence of "bees or wasps", image associated with politicians involved in corruption.

"We are a united party, a democratic party, where people have the freedom to have different opinions and we are used to living with that and there is no hint today of a lack of unity or cohesion within the party", he assured.

Regarding the alleged wear and tear of the party in resolving the country's problems, an argument made by several circles of civil society and opposition parties, Falcão said they were already used to this "rhetoric", which only "strengthens the MPLA".

"It's a good thing there is this rhetoric from some, because that's how they lost (the elections) in 1992, they lost in 2008, in 2012, in 2017, they lost in 2022 and they will lose in 2027", he assured, implicitly referring to UNITA.

In relation to the current socio-economic situation of Angolan families, marked by the galloping rise in basic food products, the MPLA leader said that the party is concerned about the situation, saying that the executive's measures, "in due time" will be felt , and that "there is no country in the world that lives in paradise".

"In the United States of America you will find citizens under the bridge, just now it was said that in Portugal there are 10,000 families living on the streets, therefore, each country has its idiosyncrasy, its problems and reality, but no one lives in paradise", he argued. .

He also pointed out the existence of private newspapers, radios and televisions in Angola to refute the aforementioned lack of freedom of press and expression in the country, considering there are cases that should not be generalized.

"We cannot generalize isolated acts of any agent, now that we have things to correct as a society, that is what we do, but here if a police officer has an incorrect attitude it is read in one way, I would like to see the same bodies talking about what Does it happen in France, England, Spain or is it different there?" he asked, referring to the freedoms of assembly and demonstration.
