The decision was made public on Friday through a communiqué from the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Health and Transport.
"Air, land and sea connections for passengers from South Africa, Australia, Nigeria and the United Kingdom are suspended as of midnight on 26 December 2020," they say.
The same communiqué states that the conditions for the resumption of connections will be created as soon as the epidemiological situation allows and according to what is determined by the competent health authorities.
The health authorities have reported 91 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The country now totals 17,240 cases, of which 399 deaths and 10,254 recovered.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
