Government reaffirms bet on growth of national production during next year

The President of the Republic honored, this Tuesday, in the Palace Gardens, the national producers of essential goods that stood out in their activity. João Lourenço acknowledged that, despite the constraints, "the private business community responded positively" and assured that the Government will continue, during 2021, to bet on the growth of national production.

"Today, although there are still various constraints beyond those of covid-19, it is fair to publicly acknowledge that private business has responded positively, has been making investments in different branches of our economy, with satisfactory results and visible in the eyes of all," considered João Lourenço.

In his speech, the Head of State stated that the homage came at a good time: the homage to national producers, on the eve of the festive season, "is justified because this is a good time when we can reflect on the commitment and capacity of resistance shown by national producers throughout this very difficult year that is coming to an end".

In the solemn act, where representatives of 62 companies from all over the country were present, the President hopes that next year will be "marked by the strengthening of national production" and assured that the Government, during next year, will continue to bet on the growth of national production.

"During the year 2021 the Government will continue to devote all its attention to the creation of conditions that will favor the growth of productive activity, supporting the private sector to increase its production, to make more investments in expansion and modernization, to create new jobs, to increase the income of families and to increase profits for investors," he said.

For this to happen, João Lourenço stressed that the Executive will continue to improve the business environment, simplify the bureaucracy of day-to-day business, facilitate access to credit and continue to support the "training and qualification of workers and entrepreneurs.

"This tribute is also an opportunity to once again highlight the crucial role of entrepreneurs in the process of diversifying our economy, especially to reduce the heavy dependence we still have on the oil sector, which has left us very vulnerable to the external shocks that that sector is experiencing," he said, quoted in a publication on Facebook of the Presidency.

Regarding data from the last agricultural season, João Lourenço considered that the country achieved good results in the production of the main crops.

He pointed out that over three million tons of cereals, over 11 million tons of roots and tubers and over two million tons of vegetables were produced. In the livestock sector, the country produced about 145 thousand tons of meat and 1.2 billion units of eggs.

"I end by taking the opportunity to present the national producers with good wishes for happy holidays and a very prosperous year of 2021, full of achievements that enhance the national economy and ensure the welfare of all Angolans," he added.
