Jorge Amaral, chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Investimentos e Participações IEP, the company responsible for the management of the Textang II textile factory, revealed this Tuesday that the unit's monthly production is 250 thousand meters of fabric. The factory, which is located in the municipality of Cazenga, has a production capacity of 900 thousand meters of fabric per month. Operating since March of this year, with the help of 120 workers working a single shift a day, the factory is not yet working at full capacity, but the numbers are positive.

According to the manager, Textang II is gradually resuming its operations. The responsible, cited by Angop, indicated that in the next 90 days the factory should start operating a full shift with 370 technicians.

"Our forecast is that until the end of the year, we are already working with two shifts, with 740 workers, to reach the double of the production", he indicated.

About the raw material, the manager said that the unit has enough stock to meet the production of the next three months. However, he made it known that the company has already placed a new order, and the shipment should come from Chad and Benin.

He emphasized that for the factory it is crucial that the raw material is obtained in the domestic market. For this reason, the project has made an investment in the quizenga agro-industrial pole to produce cotton.

"Without producing cotton locally, we will not be able to be competitive, so we will have to guarantee the self-sufficiency of the raw material for the success of this project," he assured.

Visiting the factory, Victor Fernandes, Minister of Industry and Commerce, concluded that the operation of Textang II is positive: "We came to see the production, and we are pleased to see that the conditions of the privatization agreement are being fulfilled.

He also explained that the visit is part of the periodic review of the textile factories, after África Têxtil (Benguela), SATEC (Kwanza Norte) and Textang II (Luanda) were privatized.
