Country reports four deaths and 56 new covid-19 infections

The country registered 56 new cases, four deaths, of a Portuguese citizen and the remaining Angolans, and the recovery of 67 people, totaling 17,296 infections and 403 deaths, informed this Monday the Ministry of Health.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, there have been 56 infected in the last 24 hours, between the ages of 13 and 62, 40 men and 16 women, distributed throughout the provinces of Lunda Sul (24), Luanda (14), Huambo (12), Bié (4), Benguela and Moxico (1).

The four deaths in Luanda are of one Portuguese and three Angolans, 36, 63, 80 and 83 years old, three males and one female.

The 67 recoveries, in the last 24 hours, a total of 10,321 patients considered recovered, were registered in Luanda (53), Huambo (9), Moxico (3) and Bié (2), with ages ranging from 1 to 72 years.

According to the governor, 6572 cases are active, of which three are in critical condition, seven with severity, 71 moderate, 96 mild and 6395 asymptomatic, and 177 patients are being followed at the treatment centers.

In the last 24 hours, only 666 samples have been processed, due to the festive season, reported Franco Mufinda, of which 56 were positive, giving a daily positivity rate of 8.4 percent, while the cumulative RT-PCR-based test points to 304,484 samples processed to date, of which 17,296 are positive, giving a cumulative positivity rate of 5.7 percent.

Regarding the testing at the entry and exit points of Luanda, in the last 24 hours, 553 people were tested, 441 male and 112 female, of which 43 were reactive, however, no case was found in the confirmation test.

"Since the 17th of this month, when we began the testing in the posts set up in the municipal health directorates of the province of Luanda, as to the people infected in isolation, with the time equal or superior to 21 days, we managed to have at these points 245 people, and from this number 240 have already had their epidemiological high, that is, they were attended for the first and second time and were negative," he said.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,765,049 deaths as a result of more than 80.6 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
