Group Carrrinho will build three new factories next year

Next year, the Cart group will build three new factories: a sugar refinery, a glucose unit and a soybean extraction unit. According to Décio Catarro, executive director of Cart Indústria, it is expected that the factories will be completed in 2023 and that they will employ “above 1000 workers”.

The factories will be built in the industrial complex of the Cart group, located in the Taca area (Benguela), and earthworks are currently underway in that area to install the factories, for which the equipment is budgeted at 113 million dollars.

Future "factories, to be built, take an average of 20 months and we hope to employ over a thousand workers in them," said the official, quoted by Angop.

At the moment, the company has 1600 direct employees, 30 of which are expatriates. As for indirect workers, the official said that "they reach 2000 and are normally service providers, cleaning people, stevedores", among others.

Inaugurated in November last year, the company invested around 600 million dollars to build 17 factories, of which 11 are already operating, namely milling units for wheat, cornmeal, husked rice, polishing, bleaching and grading, packaging of processed products, pasta, biscuits and cereals.

Décio Catarro also mentioned that the global production volume is fixed at around 1.5 million tons per year, and that they are currently operating at around 60 percent.

He also mentioned the issue of raw materials, indicating that there is a greater tendency to import, via big bags, from foreign markets, such as Brazil, Argentina, Russia, among others.

It should be recalled that in November 2019, the company signed an agreement with the Benguela Railroad and the Port of Lobito, to build a railway line between the complex and the port company, to simplify the transport of materials imported raw materials.

The official guaranteed that this branch has been ready since October 2021 and that they expect "to receive a ship with goods, in February of the next year, and its cargo will already be transported by the CFB train wagons".
