BCI sold for 16.5 billion kwanzas to Grupo Carrinho

Grupo Carrinho Empreendimentos SA acquired Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI) for 16.5 billion kwanzas.

:

It was this Friday morning that the group made history in the capital market, by becoming the first company - entirely national - to make an acquisition on the stock exchange, in the first auction in BODIVA's history.

The auction had two competitors, with six offers having been placed, with the minimum share value set at 150 thousand kwanzas.

Grupo Carrinho has already reacted, through a statement, considering this operation a "reason of pride, if not a historic achievement". It also affirms its commitment to continue investing in the country.

"We are convinced that, like us, the vast majority of Angolans have a very special affection and feeling of attachment to BCI, as it is part of our recent economic history. It was the pioneer of Angolan commercial banking", says the company .

Carrinho says that it will preserve the achievements achieved by the bank over the years, maintaining the tradition of a bank that serves commerce and industry, but without neglecting the public sector customer base.

It also promises a commitment to the family farming sector, wanting to make BCI "the largest commercial bank for the promotion of family farming in Angola".

For the future, "the intention is to list part of the bank's shares on the Angola Debt and Stock Exchange", enabling Angolans to "participate in the success" they aim to achieve.

Grupo Carrinho was founded in 1996 and is made up of 100% Angolan capital. It specializes in the retail sale of food and beverage products, being divided into several business units. Stand out from Cart Industry, Lojas Bem Barato, Bem Bom, Leonor Cart Group, Leonor Cart Catering, Ki-bread and FEC. In these, they represent the brands Manty, Tio Lucas, Kitandeira and D'Angola.

For Patrício Vilar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Participations (IGAPE), this operation marks, in fact, the beginning of the Stock Exchange in the country.
