Rui Miguêns de Oliveira, who was speaking at the presentation of this event, which will take place between 23 and 27 June 2025, said that the summit will also promote "mutual prosperity and strategic dialogue" between the US and African countries.

According to the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the US-Africa summits have been fundamental in boosting partnerships in the energy, technology, infrastructure, agriculture and finance sectors, with a focus on sustainable development and economic inclusion.

The minister also highlighted that bilateral relations with the United States stand out for their dynamics and enormous investment potential, as the country is among the main investors in Angola, with a significant presence in the energy and technology sectors, while the country positions itself as a strategic partner, serving as a gateway to a vast market in southern Africa.

"This relationship reflects not only mutual trust, but also a shared commitment to sustainable economic development and a prosperous future for the people," said the minister, stressing that holding this summit in Angola will reflect the country's recognition as a driver of economic growth on the continent and an opportunity to highlight its progress in terms of economic diversification, structural reforms and improvement of the business environment.

Rui Minguêns de Oliveira expressed the interest of Angola and other African countries in renewing the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), an instrument that grants eligible countries in Sub-Saharan Africa exemption from customs duties in the US market for more than 6000 products, which is expected to be renegotiated later this year.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry stressed that the aim of this event is to achieve ambitious goals, such as strengthening bilateral partnerships by promoting innovation and investment in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, health, infrastructure and food security, encouraging trade based on social inclusion, environmental sustainability and technological innovation, and promoting opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs.

According to the Minister, it is essential to invest in training and development to prepare Angolan entrepreneurs for the challenges of global trade.

In turn, the commercial attaché of the US embassy in Angola, Heather Mcleod, stressed that this event will facilitate investments and commercial opportunities with US companies in Angola, contributing to its economic growth.

"In addition, the summit will offer a valuable opportunity for Angolan entrepreneurs to connect with private and public sector leaders from both Angola and the United States, which could open doors to strategic partnerships and the transfer of technologies and knowledge," she said.

Heather Mcleod stressed that participation in the summit will also allow Angola to position itself as a regional business hub, attracting investors and commercial opportunities beyond its borders, highlighting the country as an emerging market with great potential, "promoting its international image and its leadership capacity in the African context".

The commercial attaché of the US embassy in Angola urged Angolan businesspeople to conduct in-depth research on the sectors and US companies present at the summit and that, "instead of simply asking Angolan companies for investment, they should think about creative partnerships that offer mutual benefits".
