The guarantee was presented this Friday by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, noting that the country overcame 70 of the 87 deficiencies found, in 2023, by this organization that fights money laundering.
"And it was from this assessment that we had the set of recommendations that were being addressed, many of them with intervention from parliament, we even have some proposed laws that are still here and we hope they will be addressed and we will then comply with the 17 deficiencies that are still open", said the governor.
In parliament, during the plenary that approved most of the proposed law for the General State Budget (OGE) 2025, where deputies expressed concern about Angola's presence on the "gray list", Massano promised work to reverse the situation.
According to the minister, in light of this scenario, there is "a strong commitment" from the country's authorities to do everything so that "in a short time frame" Angola can leave this FATF reinforced monitoring list.
"And we therefore want to count on the contribution of everyone, including the deputies", to quickly get out of this condition, he stressed, also mentioning the presence of South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and RDCongo to maintain that Angola "is not an isolated case".
The International Financial Action Group announced at the end of last October that it included Angola in its "gray list", as the list of countries that are subject to reinforced monitoring by the entity is known.
The announcement was made by the president of the body Elisa de Anda Madrazo, at the end of a plenary meeting in which she highlighted that "the process of inclusion on the list is not a punitive measure".
In relation to the assumptions of the General State Budget (OGE), which includes revenues and establishes expenses of 34.63 billion kwanzas, José de Lima Massano assured that the proposal brings together actions that aim to stimulate national production.
He made it known that the OGE foresees the review, recovery and expansion of the network of silos and slaughterhouses in the country, the recovery and enhancement of irrigated perimeters, recovery of water capture systems to support agriculture and livestock and the creation of the Cereals and Grains from Angola.
To the deputies, the Minister of State also emphasized that the OGE proposal for 2025 also foresees the boosting of the production of fertilizers, soil correctors and manual agricultural equipment, the reduction of the tax burden for small farms as well as the continuous enhancement of the Fund of Support for Agrarian Development (FADA), the Active Angolan Venture Capital Fund (FACRA), the Credit Guarantee Fund and the Development Bank of Angola to support the productive sector.
