Luau General Hospital starts operating in December

The Luau General Hospital, in Moxico, will start operating in December, informed the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, after a visit, on Saturday, to check the level of execution of the works at the aforementioned hospital unit.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, the hospital – which falls within the projects of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) – "benefited from rehabilitation and expansion works in an area of 25 thousand meters squares", currently "with a capacity for 100 beds".

Furthermore, the hospital, according to Sílvia Lutucuta, will have "accommodation for professionals, an intensive care unit, intermediate and neonatal care with incubators and heated cribs, in addition to the oxygen factory".

Quoted in the statement, the minister considered that they now have "a modern infrastructure in the province" that will provide service to both the municipality of Luau and other neighboring municipalities: "We now have a modern infrastructure in the province, which will not only serve patients from the municipality of Luau, but also neighboring municipalities and across borders", he said.

The minister guaranteed that human resources will be reinforced "with the mobility of staff from some provinces, with emphasis on some specialists, internal doctors and nurses", the note reads.

According to the person responsible, the hospital will be "one of the reference units in the country for training doctors".

"It will be one of the reference units in the country for training doctors, especially for those specialties that guarantee primary health care, such as family medicine, obstetrics gynecology, internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesia and others", she indicated, cited in the note.

The services include "obstetrics gynecology, ophthalmology, adult, pediatric and obstetric hospitalization, nursery and neonatology services, operating rooms, maternity ward with delivery and pre-delivery rooms, pharmacy, X-ray imaging and ultrasound, laboratory, hemotherapy, physiotherapy, sterilization, kitchen, laundry, morgue with conditions for autopsy", says the guardianship's statement.
