Sílvia Lutucuta in Brazil to reinforce cooperation in the field of Health

The Minister of Health defended this Tuesday, in Brasília, the need for a sustainable increase in exchange and cooperation relations in the field of health between Angola and Brazil.

Sílvia Lutucuta, who heads a delegation from her ministry in the country, stated that there is a mutual interest in increasing cooperation. In a meeting with her Brazilian counterpart, Nísia Trindade Lima, the holder of the Health portfolio said that a partnership is "healthy" and with regard to the comprehensive training of specialists, the goals are quite ambitious.

For the minister, the right, safe and quick steps are being taken, with special attention being paid to research and team training with the aim of always learning more, replicating good practices and improving the national health system.

In turn, Nísia Trindade Lima, Minister of Health of Brazil, highlighted the excellent moment in relations between the two countries, stating that the history of cooperation tends to grow in a full and integrated way.

"We have many challenges ahead of us together, we cannot make mistakes and, if we make a little mistake, we must correct it immediately," she said, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

The reevaluation of cooperation agreements, teacher exchanges, scholarship programs and other financing, medical residency programs and the functioning of internships, clinical practices and interaction between students and patients in light of the Angola-Brazil medical training program were , among others, some of the themes that were also at the center of attention of the meeting participants.

Minister Sílvia Lutucuta's visit to Brazil aims to enhance and improve the capacity and availability of human resources in Angola, increasing the number, quality, equity and retention of graduates, postgraduates and specialized health professionals for a better and more efficient delivery of health services.

According to the Ministry of Health, the training and qualification of just over 30 percent of the workforce in the Angolan health sector, currently estimated at 96 thousand professionals, and the creation of a solid training network capable of responding to the challenges of the present, ensuring health for all.

Before passing through Brasília, Sílvia Lutucuta and her delegation, who have been in Brazilian territory since the 18th, worked in São Paulo, a state where they visited the Federal University Hospital, the Heart Institute, the Cancer Institute and the Faculty of Guarulhos.

The University Hospital of Brasília, the Maternal and Child Hospital, the University of Brasília and the Brazilian company Gestão de Serviços Hospitalares, were institutions also x-rayed by the Minister of Health, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of Angola to Brazil, Manuel Eduardo Bravo.
