MPLA asks for more acts of citizenship and patriotism so that Angola is a “reference”

The MPLA greeted the Angolans this Friday for the 47th anniversary of the country's independence proclamation, appealing to them to contribute “with acts of citizenship and high patriotism” so that Angola becomes a nation of reference.

In a statement on the occasion, the Political Bureau of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), a party in power since independence was declared, asks the Angolan people to renew "hope in better days".

It also encourages the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, "to continue to implement policy measures aimed at improving the Human Development Index, boosting production, economic growth and the nation's prosperity".

"The MPLA expresses its optimism with the actions undertaken by the Angolan executive, which aim to intensify efforts to materialize the right to decent and quality employment, professional qualification and the stimulus to entrepreneurship, especially for youth, based on the commitment to serious in a National System of Vocational Training", underlines the statement.

The Political Bureau of the MPLA Central Committee also pays tribute to those who paid "with their lives for the direct and selfless commitment to the liberation struggle" and reaffirms itself as "the vanguard of the promotion and political, economic and social reintegration of all the living forces of the nation, fighting the various forms of injustice and discrimination".

"On this joyful day, marked by the liberation of the Angolan people from Portuguese colonial domination, the Political Bureau of the MPLA, on behalf of the militants, sympathizers and friends of the Party, calls on all citizens to celebrate the 47th anniversary of national independence with demonstrations of uncontained joy, which reinforce the belief in raising the levels of national unity and internal cohesion", concludes the party.
