Ricardo d'Abreu was speaking at the opening of the 53rd edition of the AFRAA General Assembly, which took place this Wednesday, via online.

During his speech, the minister acknowledged the negative impact of the pandemic on the aviation sector, having, however, announced its gradual recovery, complying with the norms and exceptional measures imposed by the authorities to prevent and combat the covid-19 pandemic.

Despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, the minister believes that the prompt reaction to partially maintain air transport operations allowed the survival of companies in the sector.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, it states that the assumption of biosafety measures and protocols, the introduction of digital ticket marketing solutions, regular updates of complementary testing measures and the rapid process of immunization via vaccines, recommended by the World Organization Health and ICAO, and adopted by national authorities, have helped to keep airlines at the edge of their commercial viability.

The government official reaffirmed the hope in the airlines, so that they emerge from the pandemic stronger, better organized and determined to achieve long-term success.

For the official, aviation safety remains a priority: "For this purpose, we have collaborated with the competent international bodies on technical assistance programs, which aim to improve compliance with aviation safety supervision and monitoring standards."

"We are renewing and improving the operational capacity and operational standards of our main airport network, preparing its contribution to increase connectivity and accessibility in a safer and more sustainable way in this return to the new normal", guaranteed the Minister of Transport, recalling also the resumption of construction of the new Luanda International Airport.
