New fuel installation in Saurimo to improve supplies in the east of the country

"This project aims to improve distribution in the east of Angola, increasing storage capacity by 900 cubic meters," Sonangol's official told Lusa, in Saurimo (capital of Lunda Sul province).

"Combined with the storage capacity we already have in Luena [the capital of Moxico] and with that which we will also have in Lunda Norte, we will have here a hub that will facilitate the distribution of fuel in this region, which needs greater consumption as it the industry is in a growth phase", stressed Gaspar Martins.

In the city of Saurimo, capital of Lunda Sul, the main diamond region in Angola, where the 1st international conference on diamonds came to an end, there are frequent long lines for refueling at the fuel pumps.

"This project aims precisely to eliminate these small 'bottlenecks' that exist and we are sure that the east region will have the possibility of experiencing much easier supply times," added the president of Sonangol, denying that there are distribution problems on the part of the state oil company.

Gaspar Martins stressed that the storage capacity is now "quite considerable", but pointed out difficulties in transport.

"We have the issues of access to the site. This province has difficult access, from Malanje there is some difficulty. Fortunately with the Benguela railway, storage and transport facilities have improved, with the road system we will then eliminate these 'bottlenecks' '", he said.

The liquid fuel facility inaugurated this Friday has a total storage capacity of 900 cubic meters, 600 of which for diesel (GO) and 300 for Gasoline (GA). In addition to the capacity of 100 cubic meters for fire service water, the installation included the construction of tanks, filling islands, supply of two 250 KVA generator sets and various works associated with its proper functioning.
