Viana Industrial Complex receives two new plants in 2021. Units will create 600 new jobs

From 2021, the Viana Industrial Complex will have two new factories of electrical materials. The units are the result of an investment of more than five million dollars by the company Karam Industrial and will create 600 new jobs.

Initially, Karam Industrial invested about three million dollars to advance a production plant for electrical materials. Now, the company plans to invest two million more to install industrial furnaces and implement a plywood manufacturing segment to reduce the amount of wholesale exported wood.

This investment, according to the technical director of the company, Shadab Husam, aims at increasing the production capacity of the company. The goal is to produce around 40 tonnes of domestic and industrial electric steel cables and nails, instead of the current 25 tonnes.

This increase in production, according to Shadab Husam, quoted by Jornal de Angola, is aimed at meeting the high demand: "We need to increase the production of aluminium, nails and power cables. Our products are consumed even abroad and that makes us more satisfied".

The technical director revealed that the investment will create 600 new jobs. The new workers will be divided into shifts, since the company's aim is to ensure that production never stops, and the machines will work 24 hours a day without interruptions.

Karam Industrial currently employs 470 workers, 95 percent of whom are Angolans.

The director also made it known that the company has 28 scrap collection points in Luanda, Cabinda and Benguela. The objective is to collect cans to guarantee the raw material to manufacture the electrical materials. As for the manufacturing segment, the company will count on the collaboration of national loggers legally authorized to supply this raw material.
