Covid-19: country reports 80 new cases and one death

The country has registered another 80 infections by the new coronavirus and one death, in the last 24 hours, announced this Sunday the Secretary of State for Public Health.

Of the new cases, 43 were notified in Luanda, 22 in Moxico, 10 in Kwanza Sul, three in Cunene, one in Kwanza Norte and one in Uige, said Secretary of State Franco Mufinda in the daily update of data on covid-19.

The disease was diagnosed to 48 males and 32 females, aged between three months and 74 years.

The death of a 62-year-old man with covid-19 was also recorded.

According to Franco Mufinda, another 73 people were considered recovered from the disease.

In total, since the detection of the first cases in the country on March 21, Angola registered a total of 14,493 cases of covid-19, including 337 deaths and 7346 recoveries.

Currently there are 6810 active cases, four in critical condition, ten in severe condition and 184 in moderate condition.

Laboratories have processed 3687 samples in the last 24 hours, totaling 215,193 since the beginning of the pandemic, representing a daily rate of 2.2 percent.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 1,381,915 deaths from more than 58.1 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

In Africa, there are 49,413 confirmed deaths in more than two million people infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics about the pandemic in that continent.
