In statements at the inauguration ceremony, released in a note from the Presidency of the Republic and to which VerAngola had access, the head of State highlighted the responsibility of the new directors in managing "very sensitive" areas.

"At this inauguration ceremony, from today onwards, we will give responsibilities to two entities, which will take charge of very sensitive areas of our defense and security system," he said.

"Therefore, the responsibility that falls on your shoulders is great, due to the delicate nature of the work you begin to carry out from today onwards and which has a huge impact on the security of our country", he added.

On the occasion, João Lourenço said that what is expected from the newly appointed candidates is "total dedication".

"What we expect from you is total dedication. You are not strangers to the areas. You have accumulated, over the years, a lot of knowledge and experience, and this will certainly help you improve what has already been done so far in these two areas. I am referring to the Criminal Investigation Services and the Immigration and Foreigner Services", he said.

"All I can do is wish you every success in carrying out your new roles", he concluded.

According to a note from the Presidency, the inauguration ceremony of Luciano Tânio Jorge Custódio Mateus da Silva, general director of the SIC, and José Coimbra Baptista Júnior, general director of the SME, took place in the Noble Hall of the Presidential Palace and was attended by the vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, as well as State ministers and ministers, "among other important figures in the State's central administration".

It is worth remembering that the new directors were appointed last Friday by the President of the Republic.
