According to a statement from the provincial government of Bengo, to which VerAngola had access, the project is an initiative by the Chinese business group Jian Qi and should create approximately 1000 direct jobs.
In this sense, a delegation made up of seven businesspeople from the aforementioned Chinese group, headed by businesswoman Zhuoya Wen, paid a visit, this Tuesday, to Bengo, within the framework of diplomatic cooperation and friendship between Angola and China, having been received by provincial governor, Maria Antônia Nelumba.
On the occasion, the chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Jian Qi group, Shuzeng Tian, said that the province will have, "in the near future, four factories that will produce, in a first phase, around 280 types of products, materials and hospital equipment, from syringes, needles, vital signs measuring devices, serum systems, among others, whose investment is around 26 billion kwanzas and which will generate around a thousand direct jobs".
Shuzeng Tian – in statements to the press, cited by Angop – said that the implementation of the project will begin as soon as the first stone is laid, and the construction of infrastructure should take place over 14 months.
Maria Antónia Nelumba took the opportunity to thank the initiative, saying that the land for the construction of the manufacturing units has already been made available.
"Governor Maria Nelumba thanked the initiative and stated that the provincial government has already made the land available for construction of the factories and is located in the Industrial Zone of Bengo, in the municipality of Dande, commune of Mabubas, in which the project will start as soon as complete all legal procedures", reads the statement from the provincial government.
"On our part, we will do everything we can to ensure that the construction of the hospital supplies industry takes place in the province of Bengo and that production can be exported to the neighboring countries of Congo, DRC, Zambia and Namibia", she said, quoted by Angop.
According to the provincial government, during the visit to Bengo, the Chinese delegation visited "some health and tourist units, in addition to watching an institutional video that illustrates the province's socioeconomic potential".
