The pharmaceutical project aims to increase local production capacity, reduce dependence on imports and guarantee the supply of essential medicines in the country with a direct impact on national and regional value chains, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance.
According to the President of FSDEA, Armando Manuel, this agreement is part of the long-term strategy of investments in alternative sectors, which can boost the economic development of Angola and the region.
The project was launched this Monday, in the province of Planalto Central, in an event that marks the official start of construction of the factory, which will have a production capacity of 100 million tablets per year, covering approximately two percent of the national demand for medicines.
The factory will be equipped with cutting-edge technology and certified in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, the press release adds.
