The promotion of the '60min ECO' project, by the SBA's Corporate Citizenship Department, is integrated into a set of initiatives, in different areas of activity (social, economic and environmental), to comprehensively integrate sustainability into the bank's culture, in its day-to-day operations and business, and reinforce its commitment to Angolan society.
"This is a monthly meeting, which promotes and moderates open dialogue with Angolan society on environmental, social and sustainability issues. In this edition, we seek to learn about and explore perspectives and challenges of civil society to achieve development and sustainable growth, with focus on building a more balanced future", said Rosemaire Luís, director of the SBA's Corporate Citizenship Department.
The foundations of sustainable development, the importance of the social, economic and environmental dimension, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their application in the African and Angolan context, were the main topics covered by João Armando, director of Jornal Expansão, and Joana Granja, CFO of Mota-Engil Angola.
"The theme of sustainability represents future security and prosperity for future generations, and requires the participation of everyone. We believe that it is possible to develop economies on a sustainable basis, as long as there is a commitment from all social actors, companies, governments and population in general, especially in the awareness and education processes", declared Joana Granja, CFO of Mota-Engil Angola.
João Armando, director of Jornal Expansão, argued that "social development and economic growth must be clearly sustainable". "We have to know how to manage resources, in order to ensure that they are available for the next generations. The great challenge to achieving sustainable development, especially in Angola, is education, as we need an educational system that promotes debate, good values, patriotic spirit and knowledge that shape actions and practices".
'60min ECO''s mission is to promote and moderate dialogue on different environmental, social and sustainability issues, to encourage the active participation of parties, so that they provide contributions to support a critical analysis of sustainability issues in Angola, and to encourage values such as social responsibility, environmental justice and respect for nature.
