The launch announcement was made by the club itself on its Facebook page: "We launched Petro Academies today [Thursday], an education project based on the practice of sport, covering football, basketball and handball, for children between 6 and 16 years old", the publication reads.
On the occasion, the president of Petro de Luanda, Tomás Faria, stated that although it is an activity "in the context of solidarity, it brings together sport and education much more".
Tomás Faria also said that it was "a very important moment in the history" of Petro de Luanda.
"It's a very important moment in the club's history, which is becoming more and more important and continues to be, with each passing day, a national reference", he said in a press conference released by the club.
The practical implementation will involve the promotion of sporting activities with the quality of the club, and in the first phase it will only include private schools in Luanda, explained the president, who added that the idea aims to promote sport among school-aged youth, generating habits of exercising everywhere.
The initiative, according to Angop, encompasses a partnership between the club and several private schools in Luanda, scheduled to start next week, with the Caju school.
Remember that, recently, Petro de Luanda also launched new equipment in tribute to Catetão.
