According to Petro de Luanda, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, the launch, which took place at the club's headquarters, "took place at an event in which the exhibition in honor of Hermínio Escórcio, Honorary President of the club, who died in last September".
The new equipment is a limited edition, according to the club. "Petro de Luanda's new alternative jersey is a limited edition, as only 500 copies will be available, inspired by the fabric of the city of Luanda and a tribute to the club's iconic "workshop", Catetão", reads the note.
According to the statement, the main team will wear this kit in the match against Mamelodi Sundowns, scheduled for October 24th, for the African Football League.
According to Sidónio Malamba, former club star and current project director at Petro Atlético de Luanda, the new team was designed by "partners of the Angolan brand FAST".
"Our alternative equipment, designed by our partners from the Angolan brand FAST, presents an elegant combination of black and golden details, highlighting the geographical point that is Catetão. It is for us to use all over the world, taking Luanda with us and Catetão on our chest to blend in with our heartbeat", he said, quoted in the statement.
According to the club, the launch event was attended by "legends and former stars of the club such as Jesus, Zé Kalanga, Amaral Aleixo, Job and Vieira Dias, the first captain of Petro Atlético de Luanda".
Before the match on October 24th, the two teams will meet on the field: Petro de Luanda will compete, on Saturday (October 21st), against Mamelodi Sundowns, in a game relating to the first round of the African Football League.
This Saturday's game will take place at the Estádio 11 de Novembro, in Luanda, at 4:30 pm, tickets for which have been on sale since this Wednesday.
According to Petro de Luanda, in another note to which VerAngola had access, tickets "are now available at the Petro headquarters, in Catetão and in Viana (Casa da Juventude)".
To encourage mobilization to the stadium, the team informs that when purchasing a ticket for the general stand, they offer another.
