The hearing, according to Santos Silva, served to address cooperation between the two countries. In statements at the end of the meeting, cited by Angop, the president of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic took the opportunity to highlight that "relations are absolutely exceptional".

On the occasion, Santos Silva also recalled that, during this year, three main Portuguese state figures made official visits to Angola: the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the President of the Assembly, writes Angop.

The President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic also said that relations are strengthened to all degrees, with it being "known, public and well-known that the relationship between the two Presidents is very strong", as is the case with the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa.

At parliamentary level, the official considered that cooperation between the Portuguese and Angolan parliaments "couldn't be better". "The two assemblies have been cooperating for 20 years, and with regard to issues of mobility, economy, politics and diplomacy, our relationship could not be better, and today we are experiencing perhaps the highest moment in many years of the relationship between Portugal and Angola", he stated, quoted by Angop.

In addition to Augusto Santos Silva, the head of state held separate meetings with "different political personalities participating" in the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Thus – according to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access – João Lourenço also received, at the Presidential Palace, the "President of the National Parliament of Cote D' Ivoire, Adama Bictogo, a delegation from the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly, headed by Bruno Fuchs and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the African Union, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga".
