Sodiam returns to sell Angolan diamonds. ‘Rosa do Lulo’ goes to auction

Sodiam - Angola's National Diamond Trading Company - will organize a new diamond auction, with viewing sessions starting next Monday, October 24th, running until November 14th. The bidding process, carried out exclusively electronically, will end on November 15 at 10:00 am.

A statement sent to VerAngola states that this auction is aimed at customers registered by Sodiam who have "expertise" in the commercialization of special stones, and the lots will include a total of 43 stones.

They will be seven special stones from the category "over 10.8 carats" from Lulo's production, including a pink diamond of 170.20 carats ('Rosa do Lulo'), three stones from 112 to 160 carats and three stones weighing between 45 carats and 65 carats.

Also 27 stones of the same category from the production of the Catoca mine, including a diamond of 104.7 carats and several batches of stones weighing between 20 and 40 carats. Still nine stones from the same category but from the Luele production, including several batches weighing between 20 and 40 carats.

A detailed participation package will be provided to participants at a later date.

All participants are required to present a negative PCR test, taken up to 72 hours before entering Angola.

It should be remembered that Sodiam was founded in 1999, being the state-owned company responsible for marketing Angola's diamond production. The productions marketed through Sodiam originate from 12 kimberlitic and alluvial productions and cover the entire spectrum of qualities in terms of sizes, models, purities and colors.

In 2021, the company exported around 8.9 million carats in the rough for a total value of US$1.62 billion, corresponding to an average price of US$182.16 per carat, positioning Angola as the third largest producer of diamonds in the world. gross in terms of value.
