Covid-19: Angola registers 93 positive cases and one death in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 93 new infections by the new coronavirus, one death and 283 recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, says the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health released this Wednesday.

Cases were registered in nine of the 18 provinces, with Luanda registering 52 cases of the total confirmed infections.

The death of a 59-year-old man was reported in Luanda province.

The recoveries of 283 people, aged between 4 months and 89 years, were reported in Luanda, 52 in Lunda Norte, 33 in Uíge, 24 in Benguela, five in Namibe and one in Moxico.

The country has registered 64,126 positive cases, 1703 deaths, 53,116 recovered from the disease and 9307 active, of which seven in critical condition, 11 severe, 52 moderate, 41 mild and 9196 asymptomatic.

111 patients are hospitalized, 95 people in institutional quarantine and 4003 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

In the period under review, the laboratories processed 3279 samples by RT-PCR, with a daily rate of 2.8 percent, for a cumulative 1,104,913 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.8 percent.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,960,994 deaths worldwide, among more than 244.46 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
