Covid-19: Angola registers 524 new infections and three deaths in the last 24 hours

Health authorities announced this Tuesday the registration of 524 new cases, three deaths and 359 recovered, in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health.

Positive cases were confirmed in 11 provinces, with the majority being reported in Luanda, with 372 cases.

Regarding deaths, all males, aged between 68 and 82 years, were reported in Luanda, while those recovered, with ages ranging from 1 to 93 years, were registered in Luanda (283), Huambo (24), Namibe (23), Huíla (12), Benguela (10), Moxico (four), Cuando Cubango (two) and Lunda Sul (one).

In the last 24 hours, laboratories processed 4784 samples by RT-PCR with a daily positivity rate of 10.9 percent, bringing the cumulative total to 1,028,314 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.8 percent.

With the data from the last hours, the country presents a total of 59,895 positive cases, 1587 deaths, 48,618 recovered and 9690 active, with 319 patients admitted, 105 people in institutional quarantine and 4911 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,805,049 deaths worldwide, among more than 235.30 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
