According to Milton Reis, State Secretary for Planning, these partnerships are established in a plan that determines the stages for the preparation, negotiation and launch of the procedure, in a list of 41 potential investment projects.
The project of the Luanda Railway, would link the country to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, in a first phase through an electric railway, said the official, quoted by Angop.
The objective is to extend the connection along the north corridor, in order to serve the Katanga region and take advantage of its mineral resources. From Malanje to DRCongo are approximately 1000 kilometers apart. Remember that this is an "isolated" country by sea, being served only by land.
Another project that could be included in Public Private Partnerships is the connection between the Moçamedes Railway, Namibia and Victoria Falls. In this way, the southern corridor would extend to Zambia, another country without access to the sea. Here, the main objective is to cover the so-called 'copper belt' (copperbelt) of Zambia, which is also rich in mineral resources.
The central corridor, on the Benguela Railway, would also extend to Zambia. The project corresponds to the construction of a rail link between the Luacano station and the Zambia border, in the vicinity of the Jimbe border post.
On the table there is also the possibility of building and operating the Luanda Surface metro, with a light rail network, whose route starts in Porto and ends at Zamba II, with seven kilometers and from Zamba II to Kilamba (30 kilometers ), refers to Angop.
In the second phase, the project contemplates the construction of the Zamba II / Benfica branch (28 kilometers), while in the third phase Benfica / Cacuaco (58 kilometers).
