The obligation is contained in the joint executive decree of the Ministries of the Interior, Transport, Health and Culture, Tourism and Environment that defines the rules on national and international travel during the period of public calamity.

Passengers in transit are excluded, with a connecting flight on the same day, "respecting the health rules" during their stay at the airport, it is also stated in the decree.

Angola reopened its airspace to international flights on September 21, after six months of closure due to the covid-19 pandemic, although it still remains sanitary in Luanda province.

Domestic and foreign passengers entering Angola are required to complete home quarantine and sign a term of responsibility, and must conduct a molecular biology test (RT-PCR) up to 72 hours before boarding.

Non-resident foreign citizens "must carry out an institutional quarantine, with passports retained by the Angolan immigration authorities until the end of this period.

Domestic flights from Luanda also require a serological test, and it is also mandatory to leave Angola "in accordance with the requirements defined by the authorities of the destination country.

The law also defines that international and domestic air operations can be carried out without limits on the use of aircraft capacity, although an isolation zone should be contemplated to accommodate possible suspicious cases.

Angola registers 183 dead and 4972 cases of covid-19.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than one million deaths and more than 33.7 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
