This Friday, October 9th, the first stone of the country's first pre-paid water and light meter factory will be laid. The plant will be installed in Viana, in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) and should create about 350 jobs.

:

It is estimated that the construction of the plant, which will be built in an area of around 15 thousand square meters, will be concluded at the end of the first quarter of next year.

According to the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Zona Económica Especial Luanda-Bengo (ZEE E.P), cited by Expansão, this factory "plans to contribute to improving the quality of life of Angolans, mainly due to the advantages of the prepaid system, which allows customers to consume energy with total control over their costs and without the need to receive an invoice at the end of the month.

The factory is budgeted at "more than 20 million dollars and is projected to produce 319,200 single-phase conductors and 19,800 three-phase meters, to serve the domestic market, thus contributing to the diversification of the economy and reducing imports of these goods.

The investment in the plant was made by Hengye Electronics-Indústria S.A, an Angolan company with Chinese partnership.

The ceremony to lay the first stone should be attended by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, the Ambassador of the Republic of China to Angola, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, the Minister of Economy and Planning and the presidents of the boards of directors of ZEE E.P., Hengye Electronics-Indústria S.A, ENDE and EPAL.
