Covid-19: Angola announces another 207 infections and one death

The country has registered in the last 24 hours another 207 cases of infection by the new coronavirus and a death due to covid-19, announced this Monday the Secretary of State for Public Health of Angola, Franco Mufinda.

There were 152 reported infections in Luanda, 14 in Cabinda, 18 in Uíge, four in Benguela, two in Huambo, five in Huila, seven in Malanje and five in Namibe, aged between one and 85 years, indicated during the daily epidemiological review in Luanda.

Of the new cases, 125 are male and 82 female.

One patient with covid-19, an Angolan, aged 53, died, and another person recovered.

Angola currently has 7829 cases, of which 248 have died, 3031 have recovered, and 4550 are active, including eight in critical condition and 20 severe.

In the last 24 hours, 1432 samples were processed, in a total of 134,199 analyses, said Franco Mufinda.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 1.1 million deaths worldwide since December last year, including 2198 in Portugal.

In Africa, there are 39,738 confirmed deaths in more than 1.6 million people infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics about the pandemic in that continent.

Angola has 248 deaths and 7829 cases, followed by Cape Verde (87 deaths and 7800 cases), Equatorial Guinea (83 deaths and 5070 cases), Mozambique (75 deaths and 11,080 cases), Guinea-Bissau (41 deaths and 2403 cases) and Sao Tome and Principe (15 deaths and 932 cases).
